Romeo

We were asked if we could take in a relatively friendly big tabby boy, with the hope that one day he might find a home of his own. When he arrived, he was sitting in a trap looking anything but friendly — in fact, he appeared quite aggressive! To be honest, we were very nervous about letting him out.

But the moment the trap door opened, we saw a completely different cat. Romeo was a gentle, lovable big boy who was clearly frightened rather than aggressive. Totally cross-eyed and full of character, he took a little while to settle in and trust all the volunteers, but before long he had become a real favourite with so many people.

Then, a few years ago, Romeo’s dreams finally came true. Holly, who was volunteering with us at the time, introduced him to her partner — and he absolutely fell in love with Romeo. He adopted him and gave him the wonderful home he deserved.

It took a couple of months for Romeo to fully adjust. At first he stayed tucked away in his safe little spot, only venturing out into the house at night. But slowly, as his confidence grew, he began snuggling on the bed, asking for smooches, and truly making himself at home.

Now we love seeing photos of him stretched out in front of the fire, lounging on the bed, or supervising from the desk. It goes without saying that gorgeous Romeo has completely taken over the household — and we couldn’t be happier for him. What a beautiful happy ending for our boy.
