Balthazar

Balthazar was the very first rescue cat to arrive at The Pussy Palace. He had originally been fed alongside his brothers Nero and Whiskey, and several others at a well-known colony in Parnell.

A striking jet-black boy, Balthazar was always handsome and full of character. During one feeding session it became clear he was struggling to eat, and a vet later had to pull out a very loose canine tooth with pliers, which had been causing him discomfort.

A few months later he suffered a nasty bite wound to his shoulder and was limping badly. Usually friendly and approachable, Balthazar immediately sensed we were trying to catch him to help, and began disappearing whenever we arrived. Eventually we managed to rescue him, and soon afterwards Nero and Whiskey, the other two members of “The Three Musketeers” followed him to safety. Later, their friend Nudger joined the little group as well.

Balthazar turned out to be the most gorgeous, laid-back and loving boy. He became the true King of The Pussy Palace and lived to around 18 years old, surrounded by the many friends he adored.

Although incredibly smoochy and affectionate at home, Balthazar had one firm rule — never try to put him in a cage! A trip to the vet would see him transform entirely, growling and acting as though he had never met us before, usually requiring sedation just to be examined.

Balthazar has now sadly passed away, but he will always hold a very special place in our hearts as the cat who started it all at The Pussy Palace.
